The following step-by-step guide on how to draw a graduation cap will instruct you how to draw this distinctive beautiful cap!

How to Draw A Graduation Cap  – Let’s Get Started!

Step 1 — Begin with Drawing a small oval shape in the middle of your drawing sheet

In this first step of our guide on how to draw a graduation hat, you will find it much easier. Once you have your drawing tools ready, then you can use it to draw a small oval shape in the middle of your drawing sheet.

It will be at a bit of a sideways angle to show that it’s at a bit of an elongated shape.

Step 2 – Next, draw another circle underneath and on the left side of the circle drawn in the previous step.

You have drawn the flat top of the hat by making a small oval shape in the previous step so now you will draw another circle underneath on the left side of the circle previously drawn, which will be the upper part of the cap that goes over your head.

This time, the circle will be a perfect circular shape rather than an oval shape that we drew earlier.

Step 3 – Start drawing the tassel of the cap

Graduation hats normally contain a tassel dangling from the top of the hat. In step 3 of this guide on how to draw a graduation cap, we will be starting to draw this aspect of the cap.

First, we will be making the string that the tassel will be attached to. To draw this string, draw a curved line that trails off to the side so that it seems to be hanging off the edge.

Then, draw another line running parallely next to it to finish off the string.

By that string complete, we will then add a circle at the end of the string, as this is what the tassel will be attached to. After this, make a small cone shape that will represent the tassel.

Step 4 – Now, draw the rest of the tassel for the hat

Now that you have your tassel ready, we can start to draw the upper part of your graduation cap drawing.

In this step of our guide on how to draw a graduation cap, you will find it much easier to draw if you have a ruler on hand. Once you get your ruler ready, then you can employ it to draw a sideways square.

Make sure to refer closely to the reference image as you draw so that you can see what we actually mean!

Once this part is complete, we will just draw a few details to add in the next step, and then you’ll be ready to finish it off more than half the mile!

Step 5 — Next, draw the underside of the graduation cap

You have the flat top of the cap ready, so now we will draw the underside, which will be the portion that goes over your head.

Draw some straight lines down from the base of the flat top for the side of this part, and then draw a curved line underneath that connects the two vertical lines.

That’s all you need to do for this step, and once you have added this part, you are ready to move on to the next step!

Step 6 – Finish off your graduation hat drawing by adding a degree

Now that you have completed your graduation cap drawing, this is the part where you can complete it by drawing a degree besides!

For this part, draw a small curved line beside the cap and make another parallel to it leaving some gap as shown in the reference image and enclose it by adding lines to its corners.

This part will be the ribbon which will hold the degree folded.

Step 7 — Next, draw the degree

In the previous step, we started drawing the degree by making the ribbon which will hold the degree in a folded state. Now, in this step of the guide on how to draw a graduation cap, we will draw three straight lines connecting through the ribbon portion. Enclose the upper portion of the lines by drawing curved lines.

We will complete the drawing of this portion in the next step of this guide. Let’s move to the next step!

Step 8 — finish off the drawing of degree

In this step, you will finish off your drawing by completing the degree. For this, you need to work on the lower portion of the degree that we drew in the previous step. Now, just elongate the lower three lines and enclose it by adding a circle starting from the middle line and ending with the same line.

It should look like a folded paper so remember to add lines inside the lower section of the degree.

Refer to the image closely so you can understand what we mean!
