Step By Step Guide On How To Draw A Gnome
In this instruction on drawing a gnome, we will create a traditional gnome illustration. As the reference image shows, draw a zig-zag pattern to make the cap’s bottom.
Now, draw another zig-zag pattern to make the face of the gnome to make it look realistic.
In this phase, we will draw the contour of his head and the iconic pointed gnome cap he wears.
You might begin by sketching a simple, rounded form for his nose. After that, we shall draw two huge circles above his nose. These will construct the humorously oversized spectacles he is wearing.
Then, you may complete his facial outline with curved lines. Finally, complete this stage by depicting his big hat atop his head.
Then, we shall portray his bushy beard underneath his face. This will be done with some undulating lines to make it appear bushy.
Having completed the head contour for this gnome image, we can now add face details in this step.
First, draw little circles to represent his eyes, followed by even smaller circles to represent his pupils. You may also add elements like eyebrows and lines around the eyes.
In this step of our tutorial on how to draw a gnome, we will create his arms. Use more curved lines for his arms, and then put a little hand at the end of each sleeve.
Now, draw the outfit of the gnome as shown in the reference image to make it look realistic.
In this stage, we will complete the outline for this gnome design, preparing you for the final touches in the following step.
To do this, we shall sketch his little legs. These will be drawn with additional curved lines, and they will be so short that it will appear as though he has none. Then, you may complete this stage by designing his circular shoes at his leg bases.
In this part of your gnome design, we will add the finishing touches of color!
There are a variety of colors you might use to complete him, and in our reference image, we just gave you one set of options. For his attire, we utilized red and pink for his pointed hat; we chose reds.
If you enjoy this color scheme, you could use these colors, but you can also feel free to use any other colors you choose!
We recommend using watercolor paints to color this gnome for a more subdued, traditional aesthetic. However, what other colors and mediums can you think of for this image? Fill red color in the gnome’s hat and hands as shown in the reference image.
Complete your drawing of the gnome by filling red color in the outfit and shoes as well.
