How To Draw A Crystal In 8 Steps

A crystal is a solid substance composed of atoms of the same element or distinct elements. A crystal’s atoms are arranged in a regular, repeating pattern, creating its distinctive patterns.

Crystals are a luxury today, and notably, diamond, alexandrite, and other rare crystals are expensive.

Why not instead learn how to draw a crystal? You will have a crystal at your disposal without spending a dollar.

We have produced a step-by-step, eight-step guide on drawing crystals to simplify the process for you.

In addition, each instruction is accompanied by a picture that serves as a visual aid as you do each step. Enjoy yourself and use your imagination to design a lovely gem.

Step By Step Guide On How To Draw A Crystal

Step 1:

Draw the first crystal on the bottom section of your page. Create the apex of the crystal by drawing a horizontal line. Then, beginning at each terminal of the horizontal line, draw two diagonal lines extending outward.

Then, lengthen the lines by sketching two longer diagonal lines that lean toward one another. To surround the figure, draw a broad V-shaped line at the bottom. At this time, the first crystal’s form is finished.

Create another crystal with a similar shape to the last. This crystal, however, should be slightly smaller than the previous.

Remember that the two crystals should be drawn next to one another. Following the painting of the smaller crystals, we will now draw the larger ones.

Continue by drawing a V-shaped line inverted to form the apex of the third crystal. Then, at each terminal of the V-shaped line, draw a diagonal line sloping downhill and sloping towards each other.

Draw a much larger replica of the initial crystal we sketched. It is the fourth and last crystal in our sketch.

We’ll apply the finishing touches to the little crystal on the left. Proceed by drawing a V-shaped line on the crystal’s top edge. Then, draw crossing horizontal and vertical lines at an angle across the crystal’s body.

The intricacies of this crystal should resemble the patterns on the neighboring larger crystal. Since these two crystals have similar structure and form and only differ in size.

Step 2:

After that, outline all crystals that we draw in the previous step with a brown marker, as shown in the reference image.

Step 3:

Now that we’ve successfully drawn crystals, the most interesting part can begin. This phase involves selecting colors and tinting the crystals.

There are crystals of every hue imaginable. Some of them even have many colors! It provides various color possibilities based on the type of crystal you are painting. Malachite, for instance, is green, but rose quartz is pink.

Your choice of colors for the crystals on your design is entirely up to you! After all, it is your artistic creation!

Have fun experimenting with colors and observe how the crystals eventually come to life. Start filling sky blue shade color on the crystal pillars as displayed in the image.

Step 4:

Add light pink and dark pink colors to the drawing. Don’t forget to check reference images.

Step 5:

Add purple and blue colors to the crystal’s pillars.

Step 6:

Fill the remaining pillars with red color.

Step 7:

Fill colors on the droplets as displayed in the reference image.

Step 8:

Make and fill four color shades we used in the drawing to make it look realistic.
